FCCdata.org/denpahoso.com release notes 11/12/2017

REC has made some changes to FCCdata.org that will impact the display of assignment of license, transfer of control and ownership reports.  These changes have also been integrated into our Japanese version, denpahoso.com.   In addition to some minor fixes, the following are the major changes:

REC petitions FCC for relief on LPFM multi-lingual EAS reporting requirements

By admin | 12:32 PM EDT, Thu October 26, 2017

In addition to the November 13, 2017 deadline that LPFM stations have for the National EAS Test, did you know there was a second reporting deadline for all EAS participants?   On March 23, 2016 without a lot of fanfare and zero-involvement from any LPFM interest, the FCC adopted an order that established certain reporting requirements from all EAS participants (including LPFM stations) to their State Emergency Communications Committees (SECCs).

REC launches myLPFM 2.0

By admin | 11:03 PM EDT, Tue October 24, 2017

REC Networks is announcing the release of a complete re-write of the popular myLPFM channel search tool software.  This new version addresses various issues and needs including:

  • A very slow response time on the previous version
  • The inability for myLPFM to properly handle mobile requests
  • Transition LPFM from a "filing window" mode to a "lifecycle" mode.

The new myLPFM user experience allows you to "build" your new station by first specifying your location and then "constructing" your tower structure.

Statement of Michelle Bradley: Elimination of the main studio requirements

By admin | 8:09 PM EDT, Tue October 24, 2017

Today marked the beginning of the end of local radio, especially in the commercial sector.  A station now only need to leave a toll free telephone number to make a mark on their community.  While I agree that there are some stations that are facing financial burdens as a direct result of maintaining a "brick and mortar" main studio, I do feel that REC's proposed solution was a reasonable compromise.
