The new Video Division Chief within the FCC's Media Bureau has opened up a comment period for a proposal that would see a PBS Kansas facility shift from a VHF channel to a UHF position — a move that would upgrade the station serving the Hutchinson market.

It is a Class D AM radio station with a 500-watt daytime signal audible across much of the New York Tri-State Area and until two years was the first station linked to Whitney Global Media — the enterprise led by the late Bill O'Shaughnessy. Now, the current owner of this kHz-band facility is selling it.

A Class C3 FM serving the Hot Springs, Ark., area to the west of Little Rock, is seeing a change in control, one that sees a husband-and-wife duo cede control of the facility to one Alice Bates following the wife's death in April.

An operator known for its radio, TV and digital offerings focused on Christian-themed programming in the Pacific Northwest has received the Media Bureau's OK to convert a new noncommercial TV station from a VHF facility to a more desirable UHF channel.
