What if we have another government shutdown?

By admin | 1:51 PM EST, Thu December 11, 2014

With the potential of a government shutdown looming again, let's take a look at how this will impact LPFM.

All of you who had filed in the 2013 LPFM filing window were already impacted by the previous government shutdown.  During that shutdown, all non-essential government services were shut down including services from websites.  Here's how things are likely going to work in the event of another shutdown:

HCCN (Cesar Guel) files for Chapter 7 in Texas

By admin | 6:36 PM EST, Wed November 19, 2014

According to public records, Hispanic Christian Community Network, which is headed by Antonio Cesar Guel has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the Texas Northern District Bankruptcy Court in Dallas.

Included in the list of creditors are tower companies such as American Tower, Clear Channel and Spectrasite.  The list also includes antenna manufacturer Jampro, the Internal Revenue Service among many more.

We are not aware yet of what types of business operations HCCN will be permitted to engage in if any and what the status of the HCCN owned (non-LPFM) construction permits and licenses will be.  It will be up to the bankruptcy court to make those decisions.

FCC starts dismissing non-tentative selectees in Window 2

By admin | 4:25 PM EST, Thu November 06, 2014

Today, the FCC has dismissed some LPFM applications due to being non-tentative selectees.

All of these applicants were from MX window #2 and were in groups where there was only one tentative selectee.

According to information received to REC by the FCC, if these appliants can identify an alternative channel and or location to break them out from the MX group, they may still file an amendment and a petition for reconsideration to reinstate the application, the FCC will reinstate and accept their application for filing.

Dismissed applicants must make their decisions on or before December 8.

REC Broadcast Services is ready to assist dismissed applicants with the amendment process.  Please call us at 1-844-REC-LPFM to get started.

By admin | 10:36 PM EDT, Fri October 10, 2014

We have reached the end of the first MX settlement window but it is not over.  There are several MX groups that are still not resolved.  Some may take months or maybe years to settle.  Let's look region by region at how things went.

Alaska

RAGE INC.. has been granted their construction permit and the call sign KEGR-LP.  ALASKA REVIVAL RADIO moves to 96.9, accepted for filing and is still waiting their constuction permit.
