REC launches fcc.today and fccdata.org

By admin | 11:00 AM EDT, Mon March 30, 2015

LogoREC Networks has launched two new tip jar-based websites designed for the broadcast engineering and legal communities as well as the hobbyist community.

fcc.today is a refresh and rebrand of the former "Today at the FCC" functionality on the REC website.  fcc.today is a near real-time, self-refreshing website that shows all of the FCC actions on radio and television broadcast applications within 10 minutes of the Commission making a decision.  Recently decided applications are highlighted on the page.

fcc.today also includes the FCC Media Bureau news feeds.  We will work on more features for this site in the future.

fcc.today takes advantage of the recently expanded ICANN top level domains.  Therefore, the full URL for the site is http://fcc.today ..  No dot-com or dot-net..  just http://fcc.today

fccdata.org is a rebrand of the long running REC Broadcast Query Tool.  Going to recnet.net as well as all bookmarks and links that go to the Broadcast Query Tool using the recnet.net domain will automatically redirect to the same data at fccdata.org.

The change to fccdata.org helps better identify what the site offers.  fccdata.org provides the most comprehensive engineering and legal information regarding radio and television broadcast facilities regulated by the FCC as well as Industry Canada.  Much more information than you will find at competing sites such as radio-locator.com and fccinfo.com.

fccdata.org will still continue to support the REC Radio History Project, a multi-faceted effort to recover engineering and ownership information from before the FCC's deployment of their Consolidated Database System (CDBS) in 1999.  Some stations also have pre-1970 data going in some cases, all the way back to the 1920s.

Other services on the recnet.net domain are not changing.  Only Broadcast Query.

fcc.today and fccdata.org as well as the long running site mylpfm.com are all free services operated by REC Networks. Those who find value in using these sites should consider making a donation to REC on a one-time or sustaining basis.  Use the Donate button on any of these websites or on the recnet.com site.

REC hopes you find these sites to be useful.
