In 2023, the Broadcasters Foundation of America started its Media Mixer series in New York City to provide connection and networking opportunities for junior-level television and radio professionals while promoting the BFoA's charitable mission. Now the event's fourth installment is coming to the West Coast for the first time.

A small Classic Country AM station just outside of Nashville could be in for a very groovy future, as Linda Carden's Heritage Broadcast Associates is selling the Class D signal to one of the names responsible for the area's "Hippie Radio."

Out in West Texas towns of Odessa-Midland, the incoming Chairman of the Texas Association of Broadcasters and his partner have acquired an ownership interest in Brazos Communications West, operating three FM signals in the Permian Basin.

Urban One, Inc. held its 2024 Annual Meeting of Stockholders on October 1, setting the direction in the coming year for leadership, financial matters, and executive compensation of the local and network radio and cable TV operator.

Back in March, Educational Media Foundation announced its purchase of four Salem Media signals spread between Nashville and Honolulu for $7 million. The Christian radio giant is now recouping some of that purchase price in the new sale of one of the three licenses formerly simulcasting "94 FM The Fish" to Music City, U.S.A.

Presidential candidates are not alone in utilizing radio’s reach to multicultural audiences. As the Harris-Walz campaign invests $3 million to target Latino voters in swing states like Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the NAACP is the latest organization to turn to radio ads in the march to election day.

The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau is bolstering its technical expertise with the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer. In this role, the former Verizon Senior Director will provide strategic and technical guidance to support the Bureau’s work in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and network outage enforcement for cable and satellite providers.

The 2024 vice presidential debate between Democratic nominee Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Republican nominee Ohio Senator J.D. Vance drew considerable attention, though not as much as in previous election years. Broadcast live from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City on October 1, the debate garnered an estimated 43.15 million viewers across 15 networks, according to Nielsen.
