REC operational status (April 25, 12:30 PM EDT) - REC will be in reduced operations on Friday, April 26, 2024 due to family priorities. Phone support may not be available but email will be monitored. Thank you for your patience.

Govt. Shutdown: REC is accepting new clients for LPFM Premium Channel Searches on a "space available" basis.

Due to the uncertainty of the reopening of the government and the eventual rescheduling of the LPFM filing window, REC is accepting "show of interest" for services.

If your organization has been wanting to use the services of the REC LPFM Premium Channel Search but thought you have missed out, this may be a second chance opportunity.

Government Shutdown Update 10/6/2013

Well as you probably already know, our elected officials are at a standstill over the shutdown and there does not appear to be any hope in sight real soon.  The "Clean CR" that is being recommended by the Democrats and some Republicans is the key to open the government back up for business.  Until the FCC reopens, we are pretty much dead in the water.

Govt Shutdown: Field Strength Curves Calculator

As a result of the Government Shutdown, REC has released a standalone version of our Field Strength Curves calculator.  This tool uses the same functions that determine field strength curves in myLPFM.

The tool is not perfect and has a margin of error of approximately 500 meters.  While not suitable for filings, it is very suitable to use for estimates while the FCC Curves tool is not available.

Access the Curves Tool at:
http://recnet.net/curves.php

If you are good with FORTRAN and PHP and are willing to help us make this tool even better, please let us know!

Government Shutdown Update 10/3 7:30AM EDT

The goverment shutdown is now going into Day 3 with very little progress from our elected officials in Washington.  All government web services that are not directly related to the protection of life an property have been removed from the internet.  This has put a serious hamper on those who are planning to file during what has been the October 15 through October 29, 2013 window.

Govt Shutdown: REC Standalone Tower Finder

REC has launched a new tower finder tool that accesses FCC Antenna Structure Registration data as well as the data of various tower leasing companies to inquire for antennas by Antenna Structure Registration Number, vendor tower/asset ID and all towers within a radius of a particular geographic coordinate.

The tool can be accessed at:
http://recnet.net/towerfind.php

Govt Shutdown: REC Standalone TOWAIR

In reaction to FCC system availability issues, REC has developed a standalone version of our TOWAIR-like tool. This tool is used to determine if a proposed tower requires FAA notification based on it's location in respect to airports.

The tool can be accessed at:
http://recnet.net/towair.php

Please read the disclaimers about the conditions of use of the data.

Govt Shutdown: Need recent FCC database files?

By request, here were the last of the ZIP files that REC received from the FCC:

CDBS All Files - as of close of business 09/27/2013:
http://recnet.net/all-cdbs-files.zip

Antenna Structure Registration File:
http://recnet.net/r_tower.zip

ULS Ship station database (We use this to determine reserved maritime callsigns)

Government Shutdown impacts on REC

Due to the shutdown of the Federal Government, the FCC has taken some systems that are used by REC offline under the directive that only services related to immediate life and property remain available.

For myLPFM, this means that we are no longer able to provide HAAT (height above average terrain) data.  For now, myLPFM will be giving strange results on the coverage area map and if antenna site details are entered, there will be errors.

For Premium Channel Search customers who are still awaiting reports, we will be contacting you once we get the details of what we can and can't do without the FCC resources available to us.  Each of you will be contacted via e-mail individually.
