By policy, REC Networks takes no partisan political positions nor do we endorse any candidates.  By applying these nonpartisan policies, we can analyze claims that are made from either side of an issue and apply those principles to clarify claims that are made to prevent rumors and other false or misinformed information that tends to spread through the internet like wildfire.  

Today, Monday, August 12, 2024, REC Networks (REC) is announcing the launch of a new initiative to recognize well-established Low Power FM (LPFM) broadcast stations with a track record of longevity, dependability and rules compliance.

The new program is called PACE, which stands for Participation, Availability, Compliance and Experience.  PACE will utilize various metrics from REC’s vast collection of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) data to highlight those well-established stations that have been the most involved in the proper operation of their station in an effort to be good broadcast band neighbors and to better the medium of radio in an effort consistent with REC’s overall goals to keep radio relevant, especially in this time of “non-radio” competition.

The Federal Communications Commission has announced the mandatory filing deadline for the Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test Reporting System (ETRS) annual Form One filing.  The deadline for filing will be October 4, 2024.

Reporting is mandatory and is required for the following facility types:

REC Networks filed comments in MB Dockets 24-147 and 24-148 in opposition to two changes the FCC is proposing for the Low Power Television (LPTV) service.

While the proceeding covered a large variety of items from political files to distances allowed for minor moves, REC focused on two specific items, Online Public Inspection File (OPIF) and Community of License (COL).

Today (Thursday, July 25, 2024), the Media Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission has granted reconsideration on a dismissed LPFM application for Holy Mother Mary (HMM) proposing to operate at Cascade, Iowa and has temporarily reinstated their application.

REC Networks has filed comments with the FCC to express conditional support for the proposed A10 Class of Service as part of a much larger expansion of rural broadcasting.  Class A10 was proposed by Commander Communication Corporation to be an intermediate service class between A and B1 or C3, depending on the location of the FM station.  Class A10 is specified as 10 kilowatts at 100 meters height above average terrain with a service contour of 32 kilometers. 

On July 12, 2024, WGHN, Inc. had filed an informal objection to the short-term renewal of WAWL-LP, Grand Haven, Michigan.  WAWL-LP previously entered into a Consent Decree regarding underwriting announcements which included a voluntary contribution of $2,500 to the US Treasury to settle the issue.
