This will include alerts that are intended for the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) as well as severe weather related National Weather Service alerts which currently do not go over EAS through IPAWS/CAP. Flood Watch issued May 2 at 12:02PM AKDT until May 4 at 12:00PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is possible. * WHERE...The following area, Aniak * WHEN...Through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Water levels will fluctuate as the ice front moves through Thursday and Friday. Residents should be prepared for high water and flooding if a jam develops. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As of midday Thursday, ice is running at and above Aniak. River-watch reconnaissance shows that ice is still in place at Birch Crossing, downstream of Aniak. There is a potential for an ice jam to form at Birch Crossing Thursday afternoon or evening, which could cause flooding at Aniak. As of 11am Thursday the river was mostly clear of ice above Chuathbaluk. Ice jam flooding has high uncertainty. Impacts could range between localized high water and severe flooding. Now is the time to take precautions. Where possible, move items to higher ground and prepare your community for possible flooding. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood - If you live near or along the Kuskokwim River near Aniak stay alert and be prepared to take action.
