This is a simple retrieval tool that will query the REC database for alerts that have been received through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's IPAWS All Hazards feed. This will include alerts that are intended for the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) as well as severe weather related National Weather Service alerts which currently do not go over EAS through IPAWS/CAP. Non-severe weather information (except marine weather) is also available through the NWS feed..

* WHAT...Snow Above 5000 feet. Snow accumulations up to 1 to 3 inches around the Lake Tahoe Basin, 3 to 6 inches over higher Sierra passes, and up to 6 to 12 inches of snow across the Sierra Crest above 7000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. Higher Sierra ridgetops could gust to 90 plus mph. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area, and Mono County. * WHEN...From 11 AM Saturday to 8 AM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Those traveling over higher Sierra passes and recreating in the Sierra back country should be prepared for late season wintry conditions at times overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning.
