CAP/IPAWS All Hazards Support

REC Networks had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for access to the IPAWS All Hazards database.  This is what is used for EAS, National Weather Service alerts (SAME) that do not go over EAS.

REC has built an interface that will poll the IPAWS All Hazards system once per minute and add the data to our database.

With this data in our datastore, this will permit REC to offer various database products through our entire line of services as well as introduce new services for broadcast users.

The interface is still within beta and we plan to add more functionality in order to accommodate any future service offerings from REC.

The polling system queries the IPAWS All Hazards EAS and non-EAS data once per minute, 24 hours a day.

We have no plans to offer an API (CAP/XML or JSON) of the IPAWS All Hazards data.  The data must be kept within the REC Universe.

A demonstration of the data can be found at https://recnet.com/cap

Please note: The CAP/IPAWS data current inside our data store is coming from the FEMA/IPAWS All Hazards test environment.  We are noticing that we are receiving what are likely live NWS advisories within in the test environment (since the NWS data feed is public and available elsewhere).  While we remain in the test environment, do not depend on these alerts to be authoritative.   Do not make any announcements to the public based solely on this information.  Once we move to a live production environment, we will advise.
