FAQ: The check.lp250.com website shows upgrade status as "Conditional"? What does that mean.

2026 FM Translator Filing Window. Resources and REC professional services

When REC proposed Simple 250, we proposed a transition period when LP-250 upgrades are first available.  To assure fairness to all applicants, REC had proposed that LPFM stations wishing to upgrade during this transition period, must treat any other co-channel and first-adjacent channel LPFM stations as also qualified to upgrade and thus, the tool requires a distance separation as if the other LPFM station is already an LP-250.

If after this proposed transition period, the other LPFM station does not upgrade, then they can be treated like an LP-100 station.  The conditional result shows if, after the transition period, your LPFM wants to upgrade, they may be able to on a first-come first-served basis.

Service class relationship Co-channel minimum required First-adjacent channel minimum required
LP100 to LP100 24 km 14 km
LP100 to LP250 26 km 15 km
LP250 to LP100 29 km 16 km
LP250 to LP250  31 km 17 km
